SOT REPORT

  • next meeting in January

  • magnetic gate was approved, convenience gate, ring buzzer to get let in, push bar to exit, video catches motion both ways

 

TREASURER’S REPORT

  • paid for backdrop for play, having bake sale at play to reimburse

 

PTO BUSINESS REPORT

  • emails cleaned up, new teacher gmails added

  • new text list updated, need Lori Radecki’s mobile

  • The noise machine in the 2nd, 3rd classroom is EXTREMELY loud and disruptive for instruction. PTO will submit a request to build a soundproof wall around it.

  • Dec. 17, Monday rehearsal 3rd, 4th, 5th, right after school, pickup at 3:10

  • Dec. 18, Tuesday rehearsal K-5, same time, 3:10 pick up (parents stay to set up chairs 3:10-4:00pm)

  • Dec. 19, Wednesday School Play

    • 5:30-7 at the Quonset hut 

    • families wear pajamas

    • bring cash or check for bake sale

    • bring food for food drive

    • kids come dressed in their assigned costumes 

    • kids wear pajamas to school 

    • Megan buying cocoa and styrofoam cups, PTO serving hot cocoa

    • bring bake sale items, homemade allowed, individually wrapped to sell, everything priced at $1 or $5 or $10 (cookies, cupcakes, small bagged treats, sweet breads, cakes, gingerbread, etc.)

  • Dec. 21, Friday pajama party, gingerbread house day

    • sign up genius going around to sign up for gingerbread house supplies

    • volunteers needed to help build gingerbread houses, first thing in the morning

    • crock pot cook off, best dish gets a PTO gift card

    • $5 entry and $5 meal, water and bag of chips come with a dish and tasting cup

    • bar drinks extra, donation box as well

  • Mar. 13, Science Fair deadline for the winners who go on to UNLV with judging at the end of March

 

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

  • Nina is still hosting an after school STEAM class in the library once a week on Wednesdays after school, 2:30-3:30. Parents need to get a walker permission slip if they want to pick up their kid after STEAM instead of after school.

  • Mary’s art class after school, Tuesdays at the Library, one hour. $20 a week. Recommended that K, 1, 2 has a parent. PTO will send a flyer.

  • Soccer Stars is weekly on Thursdays after school. $10 a week. More kids needed! If your child is in Soccer Stars, you can make arrangements to pick him/her up after soccer instead of after school. Sign up here: http://www.soccerstarslv.com. or call Coach Kevin for information: 702-466-854

 

TEACHERS’ GOALS/NEEDS/PROJECTS

  • Mojave desert project: School were awarded $5000 to design and build a Mojave Desert Project outdoor classroom. The plan is approved with a walking trail, colored rocks, wind down spiral, natural learning environment, tree trunk benches, native vegetation, trees, shrubs, cacti, interpretive signage, sensory garden, teepee reading nook, whiteboard for outdoor lessons. Donations are accepted, such as Fig trees and Pomegranite trees, etc. Construction will begin in February. Need community volunteers, bobcats and tractors. We will announce it at the talent show.

  • Recipe book fundraiser: we will be collecting recipes for the garden produce, compiling into a book to sell for $20

  • The yearbook was awesome last year and will be made again this year and sold at year’s end.

 

TEACHER GIFTS

4 teachers $50 gift certificates, 4 aids $25, Miss Lacy, Miss Jennifer, Miss Kate, Miss Diana, in BD wine glasses. Librarian and PE teachers, Blue Diamond glasses.

PTO BUSINESS REPORT BY HEATHER

  • PTO is free and open to everyone and meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month at 8:00a.m. in the teacher’s lounge.

  • Count day is this Friday

  • PTO will have a membership drive at the open house with sign up sheets in classrooms

  • We welcome new members, Stevee Lopriore, Ali Cook, and Anemette Taylor, to the PTO. Welcome!

  • Heather will post minutes/notices to PTO facebook.

  • Teachers will post on Dojo and BD website.

SOT REPORT BY MELISSA

  • The votes are in, but not yet counted, for the new SOT parent nominations

  • The team talked about the convenience gate that was brought up by parents last year.  CCSD will not cover it because they feel it is not absolutely necessary. It would cost $7,000. Has to meet district specs, so can’t be cheaper. A Google poll will be sent to parents.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT BY MEGAN

  • We are looking for a treasurer understudy to prepare for being treasurer next year when Megan is gone. Please see Megan if yo are interested.

 

TALENT SHOW FUNDRAISER

  • The talent show will be on a Friday evening, non-holiday weekend that the Quonset Hut is available. Possible dates are: Nov. 30, Jan. 11, 25, Feb. 1

  • open to families and community members, $5 entry fee

  • The school will perform 2 group acts

  • Individual acts by students, staff, and family members are welcome and encouraged.

  • There will be a chili cook off. The best chili wins a PTO gift card.

  • A mandatory dress rehearsal for all talent acts will be held immediately following school on the preceding Thursday.

 

COMMUNITY & EXTRA CURRICULAR BY MEGAN

  • Nina will be hosting an after school art class in the library once a week. Mary, the piano teacher will teach it as a 4 week block, parents will pay the PTO who will pay Mary. Price coming soon

  • We will check with Michelle Ward to see if Soccer Stars is happening this year. It’s a once a week after school at school recreational soccer program with really great coaches.
